Is there such a thing as Map Blindness?

Brad Pitt claims to have face blindness, so I think I get to have map blindness. I marvel at my inability to remember map details in this game, even after running them hundreds of times. I spent most of my 400 hours on Perimeter and when I spawn I have no idea where I am until I call up the map in the HUD. Inside Hauler I always get turned around and can never find the ladders to the second floor. I’ve recently been running Dire Marsh for contracts and it’s even worse. Every spawn is like a new beginning. The Outpost Sponsored Survival is fun, but I have no idea where I am or what I’m doing. I just follow teammates and help them best I can. They usually manage to get way ahead of me, to the point I get lost and can’t figure out how to get to their location. Seems like a crazy complicated set of buildings. Map blindness is a curse for me in this game.

IRL I’m fine with maps and don’t have these issues. I think it’s just the non-reality of games that prevents me from retaining any details.
