Looking for a Hulk media rec

Film/Television

TL;DR: Comics newbie looking for a Hulk television recommendation for my kid (5, autistic) who has a lot in common with Bruce Banner/the Hulk.

Hi all. I don’t really know much about Marvel or comics in general. I think it’s cool; I just was never really introduced to them by anybody and there’s so much out there that I don’t really know where to begin. Anyway, I could really use some expert guidance here.

I was shopping recently with my autistic five year old son, and he was being so good that we got to walk the toy aisle as a treat (we usually avoid it) just to window shop. He kept gravitating towards all things Hulk. I think he just thought that he looks cool, but the more I thought about it, the more it occurred to me it might be a great character to get him into.

My son wants to be a scientist when he grows up (a chemist, though, not a physicist; though he did once think he wanted to be an astrophysicist, so close enough), and science is his primary special interest. He has very BIG big feelings, and sometimes gets super angry and throws things/smashes things/stomps/flips furniture if he’s having a really rough meltdown. He knows intimately what it’s like to be carried away on a wave of emotional distress and do things he may regret/have to deal with the fall-out from later. When well-regulated, he’s very verbal, but when he’s not, he sometimes goes into verbal shutdown that makes it harder/impossible for him to get his words out, so I think he’d relate to the Hulk’s speech as well. Plenty in common. (I think. Again, I don’t really know the character very well myself, but that’s how it seems to me.)

I’m looking for a show my son could start watching (or a comic he could start reading, or even a movie, though I think a show might get him into it best to start with) to keep exploring the Hulk and the character’s parallels to his own life, because I think that might benefit him. I think it would be cool to be a kid who sometimes has a rough go of it in life and see yourself and your situation so well-reflected in the story of a super hero. I just feel like that would be empowering for him. I want to give him as many ways to feel seen as I can.

I found this on YouTube, and it seemed appropriate for him (not too long, not too scary, not too grown up, kind of funny), but it’s a Spider-Man show, not a Hulk show. I’d love to find something similar that’s more Hulk-oriented. Particularly if there’s a good amount of Bruce Banner in it, as I suspect seeing the two sides of him instead of just one might be especially beneficial. Animated is preferred because he gets scared of more realistic looking fight scenes and the like, but it’s not essential if the media is pretty light in general.

Am I searching for a unicorn, or is there something out there you all think would be a good fit for my son? Thanks to any of you who read this far, and thanks in advance to anyone who helps point me in the right direction here!
