The Glitch in the Thread

I squint at the screen till my retinas melt,
Chasing a phantom I swear I have felt.
A fresh throwaway that was hatched in the dark,
Leaving a digital, radioactive mark.
I’m digging through comments with fingernails bleeding,
As paragraphs mutate and start self-feeding.

"Aha, that’s their voice! That’s the venom they spew!
The passive-aggressive, unsolicited stew!"
But wait, this account is a sentient code,
A cybernetic, geometry-breaking toad.
Unless it’s a catfish from dimension thirteen,
Leaking through pixels to curse out my screen?

The lore is expanding, it’s growing a face,
It’s eating up bandwidth and swallowing space.
But no, it can't be, for this user just posts
Pictures of soup made from literal ghosts.
I thought I could recognize every dark phrase,
But the internet’s wearing a clown-mask ablaze.

"There they are!" I collapse as my heartbeat goes numb,
A profile named Void_99 bites my thumb!
But alas, it’s a glitch from a server in Spain,
And I’m just a corpse on the paranoia train.
The timeline is looping, the servers are fried,
A digital asylum where reality died.

I can’t toss my phone, for it’s fused to my skin.
The upvotes are screaming. The subreddits win.
