PsyD Student Burnout

Hi All!

Currently a 4th year PsyD student and genuinely fearful of how much burnout and maybe depression I’m experiencing. It seems like for almost a year now I’ve been on autopilot, going through the motions, and doing the bare minimum to get through this program. I’m in the internship application process and experiencing major imposter syndrome, feeling like I haven’t done enough/gained the ability to manage stress or succeed at work-life balance. I find myself having thoughts about not being good enough or built for this field. Basically ranting but also wondering if anyone else experienced this during grad school? For those who’ve completed their program, does it get better after grad school?

Over time, I’ve just realized I’m not a big fan of the culture surrounding academia. Also, I just can’t see myself having the social or emotional endurance to keep up with the type of caseload that seems to be the norm. Please tell me there’s opportunity for a more flexible lifestyle after this…
