Reassurance for Cat Dental Procedure
I have a dental cleaning (& extractions if needed) scheduled for my cat in one week. He’s 6, almost 7, neutered indoor only DSH and we’re in Southern California. I’ve known since adopting him at 1 that he had gingivitis and would eventually need dental care. The vets have noted heavy tartar and maybe gum irritation. I’ve put it off because of cost and my own anxiety about leaving him at the vet and the scary complications. I’m ready to get this done now before it causes any major issues for him.
His bloodwork came back normal and his ProBNP is in the normal range (76), so he should be in good health for anesthesia. He hasn’t shown any signs of discomfort in his mouth yet. He loves to eat and never seems in pain.
Obviously can’t say for certain but looking for comfort and reassurance that he’ll be okay next Monday! Any perspective on dental procedures or past experiences taking cats for a dental would be super helpful.
