New to Crohns & feeling overwhelmed!
I had an upperscope done a couple months ago that showed severe chronic gastritis and pathology came back positive for H. Pylori. I completed the H. Pylori treatment but didn't notice any real change in my symptoms. Re-testing soon to confirm eradication.
I had my colonoscopy last week and it showed inflammation in the cecum/ascending colon and proximal transverse colon. Biopsies showed severe chronic active colitis in the ascending colon, and the pathologist favored evolving/developing inflammatory bowel disease.
GI said it is currently considered indeterminate colitis but suspects Crohn’s disease. He started me on Apriso (mesalamine) 1.5 g 4x daily and suggested a high fiber diet.
I've been researching IBD and Crohn's and it seems like there's so much more I should be doing? I see so many people on strict diets, so I'm wondering if I should be adjusting my diet more, but the doctor didn't mention anything except high fiber. I'm also worried about adding additional fiber because I'm still so severely bloated and gassy as it is.
Any suggestions / tips / encouragement for this overwhelming new world I'm entering into?
