My sister in law sayed im stranger.

So there were situanian when i asked my niece whats wrong, she looked upset. She was hesitant to say, than i dayed to her trying to encourage her that you can tell me, im no stranger.

And than sister-in-law rushed in asking whats going on i explained to he i wqs asking whats wrong with her daughter stating that i told im no stranger. Than she turned to my niece and started to lecture her how there is stuff that supose to be in family and she shoudnt talk about it with starngers.

I was dumbstruck. Was i a stranger? Outside family? It felt kinda bad and i kinda drifted apart from them. She later wrote apologetic that she doesnt think of me like that and that it was misunderstanding and that not what she wanted to tell her doughter, she was talking about close family like brother father mother. And i was confused, than use different word if you dont mean it. Id like to hear what you guys think.
