How futile is filing an Ethics complaint against an attorney? California, of course.

HELP: Lawyering (methods, practices & processes)

I should have said "bottom feeder" attorney but I'm curious what you helpful folks think. Apparently around 2% of complaints are ever disciplined, but I don't see how what they wrote/said ISN'T an ethics violation. Is it even worth wasting time writing a letter? Are there any consequences assuming I'm completely honest? (I plan to be of course).

Bonus inquiry: this particular BF has a public reproval against them. How do I see what the violation was? Only the case number is listed on the state bar with no details.
