My theory on John; and Halogram staying for longer than 'an hour'
So we know from the lastest episode that Halogram mentions that he has about 'an hour' left with regards to the ring battery percentage. The popular theory here seems to be that John is keeping it up even though the ring has drained to 0%.
But what if the ring is not at 0%, but still at 5% (or let's say 4.99% now).
I believe John only needs the ring to build the initial construct. Once its there, he keeps the construct up as long as he wills or wishes it to be up.
We know with the bird, he needed the ring initially to create the bird construct. But even after giving the ring to Hal, the bird was around as long as he wanted it. Same is with him summoning Halogram. He needed the ring to get the Halogram up, but he does not realize it yet that he is not depleting the ring's power by summoning Halogram from time to time. He just used a fraction of the remaining power to bring Halogram the first time. And Halogram knows this. He knows that John is impressive, that's why he complimented him earlier as well.
Also, if we see the parallels with the bird and Halogram, we will notice that he kept the bird up even during tense situation when his mind was occupied with other life-threatening things. It's like a part of his inactive mind is keeping these constructs alive at all times.
Also, the bird helped him by attacking his attackers. We know at that time John's mind was occupied with the machine Antaan used and he was under severe duress, still the bird as around.
Same goes for the boat scene, where he was hallucinating horrible things (again, under duress) and yet Halogram showed up at that time to help him by pushing him in the water.
So, yeah, this is my theory - TLDR: Unlike other lanterns, John only need a fraction of the ring's power to get his contructs up initially and after that the constructs are up as long as he wants them to be. My guess is he can make the 5% last a very VERY long time.
