I wanted to post this completed(for now) build of the HG Aerial Rebuild. I was primarily using this kit as practice for painting since I have other kits I really wanted to paint after this.

I started by cutting out and labelling every piece and spreading them out. Then I used a white matte primer spray can on every white piece, and airbrushed gray primer on every blue piece. I was using a cheap airbrush that quickly broke after two paint sessions, then I tried hand painting the blue parts with a mix of light and dark blue acrylic paint. There are some parts that are still gray, that’s because I had to leave the build alone for around a week while I was busy with rl stuff. I figured I was taking too long and decided to piece the kit together even with some blue pieces still gray. I actually like how it turned out but I may revisit in the future.

If you look closely, you can see some paint chipping off at the corners in some pieces due to rough handling, and some uneven texture in other places. While I was piecing together the head, I broke the v-fin and then broke it again while putting together the whole kit. I had to use some plastic concrete to fix it both times. This kit did not come with a stand, I actually stole it from an HG Stargazer kit.

Overall, I wanted to share this build as its one of the first kits I’ve done and the first I’ve tried painting and wanted to hear some impressions and get some tips for the future.
