I have a huge crush on my friend, what do I do?

So I’m bisexual and there is a kid who transferred to my school recently and he’s super cute. We instantly became friends and he’s literally just another me. But this guy is straight! He doesn’t have anything against the lgbt community or anything but he’s not a part of it. And I really like him like I’ve never liked someone this much before in my life but I’m scared to say anything because I’m worried we won’t be friends anymore or he will look at my differently. I really want to date him but I don’t want to go ask him and he not wanna be friends anymore! What do I do in this situation? Do I keep my feelings to myself? Do I confess? Please help me out here!
