Need honest advice - Pregnant bridesmaid and wedding is a week away
I’m getting married in less than a week and I genuinely don’t know what to do about one of my bridesmaids.
She is in the early stages of pregnancy and has been really badly affected by morning sickness. She’s being sick quite a lot (So much that she has anti-sickness meds) and obviously feels awful. I do feel for her and I know she can’t control being sick.
I’m a year postpartum and was very sick in my pregnancy for the first 3 months too. So I know what it’s like.
Being/feeling sick is the absolute worst thing to me. When she told me in person, I felt sick straight away for the rest of the day, which is probably a mix of PTSD? and fear of puke.
Anyways, I really really don’t want to feel like that on my wedding day. So when she told me a week ago (2 weeks before the wedding) I suggested she go as a guest but she is adamant she’ll be fine.
My sister also has pretty severe emetophobia. If my bridesmaid is being sick on the wedding morning, my sister could potentially completely freak out. She is only a teen, with high levels of anxiety and it would take my mum away from the day if something happened.
Another issue is that my friend still does not have a dress. I asked my three bridesmaids to purchase their own dresses from Azazie (I am paying for hair and makeup). She has on off ordered different types over the last month, now has two to try on and isn’t replying to my messages about it.
I just feel like this is layers and layers of worry! I get married on Saturday and all I can think about is puke scenarios. I have given her 2/3 opportunities to say she doesn’t want to be a bridesmaid but she isn’t taking the hint and I really do feel rude out right saying it. I’m trying so hard to not be a bridezilla.
I genuinely don’t want to hurt her feelings. I am over the moon about her pregnancy, i just really get anxiety over sickness and I know it’s a me problem!
I know that at 6-18 weeks pregnant I would not have been able to spend the morning getting ready, walk down an aisle and sit through a ceremony.
But is asking her to step down this close to the wedding completely unreasonable?
But it is my day, and we have spent so much money and time organising it, I really just want to chill and relax and have fun. Has anyone else been in this situation?
I’m looking for genuinely honest opinions, including if you think I’m being selfish (I’m trying so so hard not to be and to chill out).
