How do you deal with never seeing your partner?
Me 21 F and my boyfriend 21 M have been together for 3 years. We met freshman year of college. We're both ambitious people, our careers are important to us, I'm an engineering major, and he's premed both at the top schools in the country. (we go to school in the same state, different schools). We're mid distance but it's hard, it's always been this way and I feel like we got used to it. Whether I'm doing internships on the other side of the country, he's always busy with applications, extra curriculars, volunteering, and the MCAT.
I'm having a really hard time not seeing him, but our relationship is near perfection. He's my other half, understands me, we've never fought and not in the "things aren't being said" way but in the, if I have a problem, I raise concern and we work through it together without screaming or yelling. Just two "adults" having a conversation about how we feel. He's genuinely my soul mate.
Sorry not to brag but to set the scene.
How do you deal with a mid distance partner? We facetime every night, sometimes just for 5 minutes but we've made it 3 years. We've done 8 months long distance, both never on break at the same time. I just worry about out future and I want to handle it the best I can.
I'm busy, but never as busy as he is and I just don't want to annoy the crap out of him because right now his future is a higher stakes than mine. But I struggle with never really talking or connecting and just seeing him on the weekends.
As my graduation approach I think about working FT in the bay area but that's so far and I alwys told him I'd follow him wherever he goes for med school. This relationship is the world to me but the distance is hard. We barely talk on top of that and neither of us are texting people.
So, how do you deal with a mid distance, high achieving partner and also not lose a part of yourself too? It's just a struggle but I want to be able to handle it
