Help with Guylines

I just purchased a Durston X dome 1+ , its exceptional.

I love that guyline cord was provided in a way to customize use.

BUT I'm wondering if folks have some recommendations for where to start....

Should I pre cut cord for specific lengths?

Are there guylines that are worth the weight to carry (cross bar vs. tent sides) when not anticipating windy weather?
