Men who think they’re more attractive than their girlfriends — how do you feel about it?

Love

This post is mainly for men, and I’m genuinely curious about your perspective.

I’ve always thought (and sometimes been told) that my boyfriend is slightly more attractive than me. Honestly, I’ve always taken that as a compliment because I had a crush on him before we got together, and he liked me too.

He loves me a lot and does so much for me. In terms of actions, I would honestly say he’s 200% there for me. He’s caring, supportive, protective, and has always shown me through his actions that I matter to him.

But every once in a while, my overthinking kicks in and I wonder if he might secretly think, “I could get someone more attractive than her.” I know he loves me because I’m kind, have a good heart, and we’re compatible—and I feel the same way about him. But looks can still be a factor in relationships, and sometimes I wonder if he notices other women who are better-looking and thinks he could have someone like that instead.

Another thing that probably contributes to my overthinking is that he isn’t naturally very expressive verbally. Before I told him that I wanted a more expressive partner, he was maybe 5% expressive 😂. He has genuinely worked on himself since then, but he still isn’t the most verbally expressive person. His actions, though, are completely different—probably 200%.

So men, I’m curious: if you’re with a woman who you consider average/slightly above average in looks while you think you’re more attractive, does that ever affect how you feel about the relationship? Do you compare her to other women or think you could “do better” physically? Or, once you genuinely love someone, does that kind of comparison just not matter much anymore?

Just looking for honest perspectives, especially from men in long-term relationships.
