I told my in-laws no to giving my 8 month old lemonade

We went out for dinner, and I forgot my baby’s sippy cup my FIL was feeding my son and said, “I’m going to give him some lemonade to wash it down.” I said, “No, we can wait for some water. I don’t want him having that much sugar, and now he and my MIL won’t stop making jokes about sugar.” “No more bananas, or fruit.” “Got to buy him sugar-free candy.” I’m not against sugar; I’m against giving my baby lemonade or juice before the age of one, as most doctors recommend waiting unless otherwise. My husband said he didn’t know what the big deal was, which made me upset. Am I overreacting? Should I have just let him give my baby some lemonade? Thanks.
