How is Ramp with project based expenses?
We’re a marketing agency looking at Ramp, and I’m curious how well it handles project/job costing.
None of our expenses are really “billable” to the client, but nearly every expense needs to be allocated to a specific project budget.
Right now we use Mercury + QBO, and our controller manually assigns transactions to the appropriate projects. It works, but it’s very time-consuming and we’re looking to automate as much of that process as possible.
About half of our employees are dedicated to a specific project, so ideally any charges they make would automatically map to that project. Other employees work across multiple projects, so we’d want them to select/tag the appropriate project when making a purchase or submitting the expense.
Does Ramp handle this use case well? How are other agencies or project-based businesses setting this up, particularly with QBO?
