Should I apply for Deloitte Audit & Assurance if I ultimately want to go into consulting?
Hey folks, I’m a 2nd year B.Com (Hons) student at DU with an 8.0 GPA. Long term, I want to get into strategy/management consulting, work for a few years, then do an MBA abroad and hopefully move abroad.
So far I’ve done:
Zomato - SCM internship
EY India- currently doing a Marketing internship
Now a Deloitte Audit & Assurance internship has come through my college, and apparently there’s also a possibility of a PPO.
I’m really confused about whether I should apply.
On one hand, audit isn’t what I ultimately want to do. I’m worried that Zomato SCM + EY Marketing + Deloitte Audit might make my profile look all over the place when I actually want to go into consulting.
On the other hand, if I get Deloitte, the brand + possible PPO would give me a safety net. I could take the PPO if I don’t manage to get a consulting role immediately and try to move into consulting later.
The bigger issue is attendance.
I’ve already missed around 1.5 semesters of college because of internships, so I’m seriously concerned about my attendance and attendance marks at this point. And if I apply and eventually get selected, I can’t just back out at the end because of college policies, so I need to think about the attendance impact before applying.
So I genuinely need some advice here 😭
Should I just apply for Deloitte and see what happens, or should I skip it and focus on finding a consulting/strategy internship next semester or the semester after?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with Big 4/consulting or has been in a similar situation.
