Set in the mythical world of Earthsea where crops dwindle and dragons reappear, a wise sorcerer named Archmage Sparrowhawk (Ged) investigates a mysterious collapse of the world's balance. Along the way, he encounters and guides Arren, a troubled prince fleeing a dark inner shadow and the fear of death. Together, they confront an evil wizard named Cob who seeks eternal life.

This movie was just ok to me. I felt that best part of the movie was some of the visuals and music which were epic. The characters were decent enough tools to express the main themes of the movie about accepting death and facing your fears/past and moving forward. I like the development between Arren and Therru, which goes from animosity to understanding. Arren, himself is an interesting character who made committed a crime he’s haunted by along with the looming threat of death. By the end he decides to go back and repent but promises to maybe see Therru one day if possible. The villain is definitely a menace willing to do anything to get what they want. I also love that this movie has dragons… I love dragons.

Honestly, I wish the film was paced better because it’s good and has some really great sequences, but it can slog along for its runtime. I don’t have too much to say. I heard that this is a worse version of the book and it’s the debut of Miyazaki’s son directing a movie. For a first one it is good though.
