Help choosing a synagogue?

Hello, as a little preface I live in San Diego (South Bay). I started getting more interested/involved in my judaism after doing a birthright trip.

But anyways, I'm now deciding if I want to continue with a conservative synagogue or try my local reform one. I've been to said conservative one a few times with my aunt and the Rabbi's a cool dude and I like the singing in Hebrew (though I don't understand it). I was raised non religious in a liberal place though. I think I just want to do some torah study and community events really, maybe go to synagogue for high holidays and possibly adult B'nei Mitzvah classes. I personally don't want to keep kosher also but I'm okay being around it.

What's a good way to determine if a synagogues for me, do you guys generally just talk to the rabbi and feel it out? Thx!
