Common Run Club Posts

Mods and fellow members of r/Lancaster:

Can we please - PLEASE - shut the fuck up about Common already? This discourse is EXHAUSTING.

Seriously. Every goddamn day I come on this sub, I see a bunch of stupid bullshit about Common and people piling on and sniffing their own farts with how clever they think their snide comments are.

The comment threads on any post about them is nothing but people bashing something that we can probably all agree is good (physical exercise) just because it's kind of inconvenient to them one night a week. But what REALLY gets me is all of these Very Online commenters calling anyone who's in Common a bad person for being involved with it.

You know nothing about these people! How the hell can you so confidently say that they're bad people just because they run in the city?

“But, but! Running in the streets is illegal!”

Sure. So is speeding, which any car owner is absolutely guilty of doing at least once in their lives.

So is double parking, and I know someone reading this has done that before.

So is recording people on video without their permission (PA is a all-party consent state) — which means that any of your video recordings of people who are running in the streets is illegal, especially if the people in the video are saying anything (it’s only legal to record people in public if the video is silent).

If Common isn’t for you, cool. Move along. It's clearly for a lot of people.

And if you have legitimate complaints about people running in the streets - which I've seen people from Common do, and which is a legitimate complaint - take it to fucking City Council.

Your dickish, standoffish commentary does nothing but make you feel good and doesn't bring about any meaningful change. If you're actually concerned, fucking go to city council.

If you're not willing to do that, then for the sake of all of us on here, shut the fuck up already.
