I noticed that reassurance doesn't always stop overthinking
I used to think that if I could just get reassurance, my mind would finally calm down.
So I'd ask questions, reread messages, or look for little signs that everything was okay.
And sometimes it worked.
For a little while.
Then the same doubt would come back.
That's when I started noticing that the problem wasn't always the lack of reassurance.
Sometimes I was using reassurance to calm an emotion I hadn't actually understood.
Once I started noticing what I was afraid of underneath the thought, I didn't need to keep looking for answers as often.
I'm still learning this, but it's changed the way I look at my own overthinking.
I've been collecting observations like these about emotional patterns and human behavior. They're linked on my profile if anyone's interested.
