Why I'm still playing despite wanting this game mode
Originally, I was wishing desperately for this game mode, but decided to keep playing, even after 1 bad game.
First, lack of champions. They are currently making more bangers, so I still might play too many games in a row once some more of my picks are in. The 60 champ release roster was a huge win, and limited role variety, injected pure nostalgia and gave for good reddit content creation.
Second, lots of support. To put it lightly, it seems like riot gave this mode the budget of a Manhattan ham sandwich (with some Prosciutto di Parma and jamón ibérico). There is so much advertising, some nice content just came out that was made by Riot, there is awesome old lore (Sion chopper uwu), there is a strong community supported competitive scene (I'm looking at you RTO). Beyond a few streamers putting out content, there are a lot of better communities aside from this tiny subreddit.
Third, the matchmaking. The hundreds of games I wound up playing usually end up with a 30-40 minute wet noodle competition. I think ranked could be a good idea with where this mode is at in terms of player base, but at minimum they should match player stacks, ie 5 stacks only go against 4 or 5 stacks.
I don't want to see this mode die, but I also want to keep playing it. It's a shame, as even with many games played, I saw how it was the game I originally got addicted to.
This mode needs some community building but its got a nice start. I love the game mode and the fact that you're passionate about it. The new Classic Kog skin coming out looks sick and I'm looking forward to the batch of champions coming next patch. Maybe if we got Riot to sponsor some community hosted tournaments I would be willing to just work from home full time (Classic Triumphant Ryze plz). Please buff Shaco, God Bless the Rift and all you wonderful summoners.
