I’ve figured out why I can never enjoy Hotel and the reason is SHOCKING (not clickbait).

Everyone always seems to love hotel but i just cannot get into it, I’ve only watched it once and every time I have tried to rewatch it I have failed miserably.
I’ve never understood why, I love Gaga and the general aesthetic of the season and I love a lot of the characters and the storylines are often quite fun.
Yet I can’t stand watching it. And I’ve worked out why.

I have finally realised what sets it apart from every other season, and it’s that it has a boring and unlikeable main character.
John is the only main character that is genuinely so boring that it’s painful to watch. Okay i guess that wasn’t that shocking but anyway.
By main character I mean the one character each season that gets the most screen time, since there’s lots of main characters each season, but usually one or two who have way more screen time than the rest, and in hotel it’s John.

Him and his whole annoying family were such a pain to watch and that’s what I can’t stand about this season.
There is other main characters I hate, Ben Harmon being a great example. Ben probably has the most screen time in season 1 yet I loved season 1 but disliked season 5. But i’ve figured out it’s because as much as I despise Ben Harmon, he’s not boring. It’s not painful to watch him on screen because I love hating him and I’m not yawning every time he’s on screen like I am with John.

I guess there is truly no worse crime for a fictional character than being boring. Being an awful disgusting character who you hate is actually a lot better than a boring character apparently.

I’m gonna attempt to rewatch Hotel and just skip his scenes and see how I do.
I’m also gonna skip the scenes of his annoying ahh wife and his creepy child.
Also this title is totally clickbait idk why I did that.
I’m now super excited to rewatch now after my discovery especially after finding out Bruce and Caitlyn Jenner are the same person and not just siblings (ik this is kinda off topic but it’s really eye opening to me and has changed my outlook on life and I am excited to watch shows and movies after this new discovery since it’s changed the way I think and I kinda feel like a new person).
