Applying for Bachelor's with a very low family income. Looking for advice on zero-application-fee public universities in Italy?
Hey everyone,
I am an international student planning to apply for an English-taught Bachelor's degree at a public university in Italy.
I am specifically looking for universities with a €0 application fee. To be completely transparent, this isn't just about trying to save extra cash—I genuinely cannot afford the €30 to €100 application fees due to a severe financial constraint (my family income is below ₹1.5 LPA / approx. €1,600 per year). Paying for multiple application fees is simply not an option for me.
I know schools like the University of Genoa, Palermo, and Insubria don't charge application fees. Has anyone with a similar financial background successfully gained admission to these or other zero-fee public universities?
I would love to know:
-
Are there any other public universities with zero application fees that I should look into?
-
Even if the application portal is free, did you face any unexpected upfront costs before receiving your admission letter?
-
For the TOLC exam (if required), is there any way to request a fee waiver due to low income, or is the €30 fee mandatory for everyone?
Any guidance or shared experiences would mean the world to me right now. Thank you so much.
