Road Trip is changing the way I see the map

I've been playing for years, buy every map expansion when it comes out. Looking forward to exploring South Dakota. Of course, I purchased the Ford pack and drove from Denver to Yellowstone via the scenic route: Rocky Mountain, Steamboat, Rock Springs, Jackson. No deadline, just driving and stopping for photo ops along the way. I'm purposely avoiding the Atlas content at the moment.

Once I reached Yellowstone, I opened the map to plot my route back the HQ, and was suddenly overwhelmed with the possibilities. The map didn't change at all, but it suddenly looks so much bigger than it did before.
