Comfort food

Fall is making me nostalgic- What region are you from and what food makes you think of your childhood? Some foods just immediately take me back. I’m from the rust belt and in the summer it’s corn on the cob and green beans that were just picked. Like the smell of them fresh is so nostalgic even though I still eat them all the time. We used to get ours from a farm that we could walk to down the road and my mom would have us sit on the stoop and snap all the beans and shuck the corn. We also would go out back and pick all the blackberries and raspberries we could get and my mom would make them with angel food cake.

For winter though it’s my dads chicken and dumplings. Whichever one of us was willing to pick all the bones out and shred the meat got the privilege of dropping the dumplings in the pot (which for some reason we would fight over doing). Runners up would probadly be venison stew and home made pierogi. (Separately, not together) What about you?
