Thinking of restarting

I still haven't finished my first playthrough of rainworld (I have no DLC's) because I've been playing on and off for a long time.

I have been trying to play spoiler free, but the yellow guidance guy stopped appearing a while ago and I've had to keep looking up where to go next out of frustration (I know getting lost is part of the fun, but when you've made a lot of progress with distance just to end up somewhere you've been before it's rather disheartening).

So I looked up where the yellow guy has gone, got some spoilers I'm trying to forget in the process, but it seems that eating the flying things in the same room as the "Looks to the Moon" character makes it disappear forever.

I've been used to the guy disappearing for small amounts of time, but he's really helpful, and now it's gone forever (apparently you can revive moon, but I have no idea if I ate all the neurons in there or not) and also it's soooo far back. I'm in the "Five Pebbles" area, I've been spoiled that five pebbles is also a character but I have yet to see them as I keep getting eaten by the blue walls (skill issue).

Point being is, I'm so tired of not knowing which direction to go, or not getting help on where food is. I'm feel very disheartened and wondering if it's worth just starting the game over.

TL;DR no yellow guy, I need his help to avoid spoilers, should I restart?
