How do I contribute back?

I used Debian for more than 15 years and moved to a Linux only setup about 5 years back. I always wanted to contribute back but never had the time or appropriate ways. I remember thinking at one time to become a DD or at least a DM, but I could not or cannot put that much consistent effort.

My selfish reason in this is more about maintaining and improving skills while I give back. And if I can make that a habit and a routine doing whatever, I may even think about a DM eventually.

But first, I would like to defer to the community on this. What else I can do realistically either online or offline? I am not super skilled at the moment as I became comfortable with my simple tiling setups. I maintain my two workstations and do some shell scripting apart from my day job. I am very comfortable on the command line, configuration, technical documentation, reading shell scripts, Python and some C.
