I built a free job search tool to see visa sponsorship signals before applying
One of the most frustrating parts of job searching in the U.S. as an international candidate is not knowing whether a job is actually worth applying to.
A posting can look like a perfect match, but then you have to separately figure out:
- Does this company actually sponsor H-1Bs?
- Do they have a history of green card sponsorship?
- Does this specific posting say anything about sponsorship?
- Is the company generally sponsorship-friendly, or was it just a handful of cases years ago?
- Are there cap-exempt opportunities that are easier to miss?
I got tired of checking all of this across different websites, so I built Openbound.
It currently tracks 227k+ U.S. jobs and adds sponsorship information directly to the job search experience.
For each job/company, it can show things like:
- Visa sponsorship likelihood
- Green card sponsorship history
- What the job posting itself says about sponsorship
- Company sponsorship history
- Cap-exempt status where applicable
- Salary, location, occupation, and current openings
You can also filter jobs by visa sponsorship and green card sponsorship instead of finding out after you've already applied.
I want to be clear that a sponsorship signal is not a guarantee that a company will sponsor a particular candidate or role. The goal is just to give people better evidence before spending time on an application.
It's free to use: theopenbound.com
I'm still improving the data and classification, so if you find a company or job where the sponsorship information looks wrong, I'd genuinely like to know.
Would also be curious what other sponsorship information would actually help you decide whether a job is worth applying to.
