What was your unexpectedly difficult about travelling in China?

Hi everyone! I graduated from university this year and live in Changsha for 20 years, it's in the same province as Zhangjiajie, with direct high-speed rail connections between the two.I’ve been thinking about helping independent travelers with the practical side of visiting China, but I don’t want to assume I know what visitors need just because I live here.

If you’ve been to China, think back to your first day or two. What’s one thing you expected to be simple but turned out to be frustrating or time-consuming? What did you try, and how did it work out?

I’m still figuring out whether there’s a useful service I could offer, so honest answers help, including “nothing was particularly difficult.”
