To Whom Should We Give Dawah

To Whom Should We Give Dawah

  1. Zayed:

Habib, in our society every group calls people to their own group. Each group has a different name. There are so many groups and so many names. Has Allah said anything about this in the Qur'an?

  1. Habib:

Yes, of course. Allah has explained every matter in detail. We see some verses as small, but inside them there is so much knowledge.

Here Allah has told us who we should give dawah to, and what name we should use for ourselves.

For example, Surah Fussilat, verse 33:

"And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does good and says, I am one of the Muslims."

If you think about this verse, Allah has answered your question very nicely.

This verse has 5 parts.

First, Allah asks who has the best speech.

Then He answers: the one who invites to Allah.

So the best people are those who call people to Allah.

  1. Zayed:

Yes Habib, I understood. The best people are those who invite people to Allah, to Allah's Qur'an. Not to any group.

  1. Habib:

May Allah reward you.

Think more, Zayed. In our society, do these people invite to Allah's Qur'an?

Or do they invite to groups made by people? Whichever group they are in, they call people to that group.

Also, every group thinks "we are the only right group."

Is that correct, Zayed?

  1. Zayed:

Yes Habib, they do think that. Every group thinks "we are on the true path."

That is why each one calls people to their own group.

  1. Habib:

Good, you understood.

Next Allah says: and does good.

Good means: In your personal life, family life, social life, in every area,

you follow good character and good deeds yourself,

and you also tell others to do good.

And to know what good deeds are, we have to take it from the Qur'an, InshaAllah.

  1. Zayed:

Yes Habib, I understood. The Qur'an is the best guide for good deeds.

  1. Habib:

Next Allah says: and says, Indeed.

Here Allah is putting strong emphasis.

And what should we say? "I am one of the Muslims."

Allah wants us to have only one identity. Muslim.

  1. Zayed:

Habib, I understood. Allah told us to give dawah to Allah.

And He told us that we must say we are Muslims.

He told us not to use any names made by people.

  1. Habib:

May Allah reward you. Let me read the verse again:

"And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does good and says, Indeed, I am one of the Muslims?"

So our dawah must be to Allah and to Allah's Qur'an.

And we must say: I am a Muslim.

Allah told us to use the name Muslim, so I am a Muslim.

Other than this, I have no other identity.

I request every person: Please come to the Qur'an.

Read the translation and live your life by it.

If Allah wills, you will be honored in this life and in the Hereafter.

Each person will answer for themselves on Judgment Day.

So I request you: Keep your heart open and come to the Qur'an.

I swear by Allah, the Qur'an is very easy if you try to understand it.

I have delivered the message to you.

Whether you accept it or not is your choice. Alhamdulillah.

Okay Zayed, let’s stop here for today.

May Allah grant you peace and well-being.

  1. Zayed:

Habib, may Allah grant you peace and well-being.

May Allah give you and everyone the ability to gain knowledge of the Qur'an.
