38 and Enlisting

Initial Training

Hey all thanks in advance for any kind of feedback you guys can give on my situation. Im a 38 year old male and I just finished my paperwork and am waiting to hear when my meps is. Im super nervous but excited to try and push myself at the same time, I've been a nerd and a loser most of my life and I finally got up the willpower to change the direction of my life. I used to be about 280lbs and managed to drop down to 195. I've got a couple exercise metrics I want ya'lls opinion on to judge my fitness level. I can do an average between 25 and 35 pushups a set, around 10 chin ups, and maybe 30 crunches. I use an elliptical daily for cardio running between 3 to 5 miles regularly. Doing it on a machine is much different than physically running though. Is this a sufficient baseline to not be completely miserable while making it through basic or should I push myself in the coming weeks before my meps. I wanna do something with my life before it's too late and im just in my head too much id appreciate some outside perspective. Also im hoping to aim for a full time position and I heard logistics is the way to go.. I actually really enjoy cooking and have considered this as a goal. Thanks in advance gents and thanks for your service.
