Ev registration fee

I understand registration fees but this has been killing me as a gen 1 Nissan leaf owner. $200 is more than my yearly charge fees and my vehicle weighs less than most 4 cylinder car. It literally gets 40 miles in a charge. Should I just get rid of it?

Who do I need to contact in Morris county to ask about having this reviewed?

My cost for an old diesel pickup was far less in registration fees and weighed significantly more. What is going on?
