We recently redid our kitchen cabinets in a very dark blue-gray/charcoal with brass hardware. The walls are currently white, but I’ve been wanting to bring more color into the kitchen and make it feel warmer and more intentional.

I looked at Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog, Dried Thyme and Rosemary. Rosemary felt much too dark once I saw the actual swatch in my space, Evergreen Fog felt a little too light/gray, and I ended up buying a sample of Dried Thyme.

I’ve started testing Dried Thyme on the walls and I think I really like it with the cabinets. My friends think it’s a great idea too, but before I commit to painting the entire kitchen, I want some outside opinions because I’m starting to second-guess the overall color combination.

Does Dried Thyme actually work with these cabinets, or are these colors fighting each other? Please be honest. I’m not committed to green if there’s another direction that would work better.

My husband usually doesn’t have much of an opinion on design stuff and would rather just leave the walls white, mainly because he figures it’ll mean less repainting if/when we eventually sell the house. So I’m coming to you guys for the design opinions lol.

I’m going for a warm, natural, somewhat mid-century feel. I’m also planning to add a 48” walnut floating shelf above the coffee/microwave area, so there will be more warm wood to break up the green and dark cabinetry.

I’m also really unsure about the baseboards and trim. Would you keep them white? Paint the baseboards Dried Thyme so they disappear into the walls? Paint them dark to relate to the cabinets? Something else?

We live in the Seattle area, so another consideration is how dark everything can get during the winter. The kitchen gets natural light, but on gray days and at night it can obviously get much moodier.

I’ve included photos of the actual kitchen, the Dried Thyme painted on the wall in different lighting, and the paint chips next to the cabinets.

Basically, tell me what you’d do before I paint the rest of this kitchen. Keep Dried Thyme? Go back to white? Try a different color?
I also added a AI generated photo of what I’m hoping to turn the space into. I want to paint my whole kitchen a shade of green.

Did I make a mistake with this green? Need honest opinions on wall + cabinet combo
