Was a 365-day ban for barely using a macro fair?
I want honest opinions on this because I'm pretty conflicted.
I got a 365-day ban in Fortnite for using a macro. Before anyone says it, yes, I know macros are against the rules and I'm not denying that. Epic considers gameplay macros a violation and can issue bans for them.
What bothers me is the severity of the punishment compared to what actually happened.
I barely used the macro. It wasn't something I was running every day for months. I stopped using it completely and removed it, and then about two weeks later I got hit with a 365-day ban.
This is also an account I've played on for years and spent a lot of money on. Losing access for an entire year feels brutal.
When I think about cheating, I think about things like aimbots, wallhacks, ESP, triggerbots, and other software that directly helps someone win fights. Those cheats can completely take over gameplay. A macro is still against the rules, but personally it feels like a different league than software that aims for players or lets people see enemies through walls.
I'm not saying I deserved no punishment. I broke the rules and I accept that. What I'm questioning is whether a one-year ban is proportional, especially considering:
- I barely used the macro.
- I stopped using it on my own.
- The ban didn't happen until weeks later.
- The account had years of progress and purchases.
