Anyone notice how they hate not understanding / things going over their heads?

It's never, "oh I don't understand that, what does it mean?" Or, "that makes me curious to learn more" or whatever.

You can see the frustration and contempt flash across their face for a moment, maybe they'll interpret it totally wrong, and/or they'll find some way to demean or dismiss whatever it is.

I'm especially thinking in terms of jokes or humor. I've even made jokes that my narcissist ex-friend didn't get -- so I would explain I was being facetious or ironic or whatever, no big deal -- and then they would literally respond, "no, you weren't joking, you were being serious and you're lying now."

they take themselves that seriously. these are some of the least funny people in the world because they can't accept ever being confused or not all-knowing.
