So this is a new one for me.
I have a **2022 CX-5 Turbo** and apparently a fucking **groundhog decided my engine bay was a snack**.
I caught it on camera crawling around the car/engine area, and after looking under the hood I found multiple sections of the wiring harness completely chewed up. Some wires are fully severed, others have exposed copper, loom is shredded, and there’s also some chewed-up plastic around the battery area.

The car started having electrical issues, rapid clicking when trying to start and throwing a bunch of electrical system malfunction messages, so now I’m wondering exactly how much of that was caused by this little asshole.

I filed a comprehensive claim with GEICO and they’re towing it to my Mazda dealer tomorrow. I’m definitely not starting or driving it with the wiring looking like this.
My biggest concern is that what I can see is probably only part of the damage. Who knows what else got chewed lower down or behind the engine where I can’t see.

For anyone who’s dealt with rodent/animal wiring damage on a CX-5:
**How bad does this look?**
Did Mazda repair individual wires/splice the harness, or did they end up replacing an entire harness?
And roughly what did the repair cost before insurance?
I’m mentally preparing myself for the dealer to call me and say, “Yeah… about that.” 💀
At least I have comprehensive coverage, so hopefully the groundhog only fucked GEICO instead of me.

How royally am I f**ked?
