Accessibility question: where to put cane in a crowded class?
Hello!! I use (ambulatory) mobility aids to get around because my classes are so far apart and I have to commute downtown but the lecture halls and older classrooms get really crowded and I get too embarrassed to bring them to class unless my condition gets really bad. I don't always need my cane so I know it looks pretty silly to other people when I switch between using it and not using it but I am really trying to drop the embarrassment because it helps me during flare-ups.
I was wondering if anyone who uses mobility aids (temporary or not) have tips they're willing to share, especially about where you guys put your canes/crutches when you sit down? I know some classrooms have the designated table for accessibility but they're always so far off in the corner and I don't want to explain myself to people if I sit with everyone else on a better day you know?
Sorry if this is silly, I'm not trying to throw around internalized ableism and get validated for it, I just get really anxious and wanted to know how other people would deal with this. Thank you :)
