Getting a Switch for practicing Japanese, is it legit or am I trying to justify myself playing video games? (N1 level)

Resources

Hi all, would love some opinions on this as I know many of you play video games to practice Japanese. I'm currently N1 and staying in Japan for the next three months, so I'm buying books for practice, and considering getting a secondhand Switch 1 with a bunch of games (Dragon Quest, Persona, other text heavy games).

The thing is, I don't if gaming is good enough practice to justify a gaming console. I really should be reading more, and watching more NHK content (I have a subscription, I highly recommend it it's really cheap and the documentaries are amazing). But maybe evening gaming would be a good lightweight exercise?

My speaking is very good, listening is allright as well, but my reading is still the skill that's lagging behind. I need to get really good by September next year, that's when my PhD starts, and I'll be reading tonnes of Japanese sources as well. So reading more books is the obvious option, but again, maybe a nice relaxing gaming session would be good as well.

People who play games in Japanese, any opinions are much appreciated!
