I love him, but I'm tired
Just wanted to vent this out.
We’ve been married since last year and we have one child. We got married immediately because I was pregnant. We both work in the government. My husband resigned early this year because of the work environment. He told me he would get a part-time job while applying for another position in a different office, but that promise never happened. He didn’t get a part-time job because he said it was “hard.”
I know that my husband is a good man in many ways, but sometimes I feel like he is not a good husband to me. He accompanies me to work every day on his motorcycle, and I genuinely appreciate that. But whenever we argue, he brings it up and uses it against me, along with everything else he and his family have done for us.
For our expenses, we’re currently living at his parents’ house with them. Honestly, I don’t want to live there. I wanted us to stay with my parents temporarily while looking for a place of our own, but he didn’t want to because he said that, as a man, it would be awkward for him to live with my parents. So I compromised.
He always tells me to wait and promises that he’ll eventually give me the life I’ve always wanted. But I’m getting tired of waiting because, so far, all he does is talk. I’ve heard the promises so many times, but I’m starting to need actions, not just words.
Right now, his parents cover most of our expenses. I do have a job, but most of my salary goes toward paying my debts from our baby’s baptism and first birthday, as well as our baby’s daily needs. His father also sometimes provides milk for our child.
But during arguments, my husband throws all of this in my face. He tells me that even until now, I still don’t have anything and that all my money just goes straight to my parents. The truth is, my money goes toward my debts and our child’s needs.
What hurts me even more is when he says that my father is of no use because my father supposedly has no contribution to our child, simply because his father contributed to our baby’s first birthday.
I am really hurt by all of this.
And there’s something I find especially difficult to carry: he has laid his hands on me before, when I was only a few months postpartum. I’m still holding on because I love him and I want our child to grow up with a complete family. But I’m getting really tired because this has become a cycle. Whenever we argue, he brings everything up again and makes me feel like I owe him and his family for everything.
I know he has good qualities, and I don’t want to paint him as a completely bad person. But being a good man in some ways doesn’t automatically mean he is being a good husband to me. I love him, but I’m exhausted and I don’t know how much longer I can keep going through this.
