Amateur bands or jam sessions?

I know in SF there's a weekly jam session that happens in golden gate park - I'm in the peninsula now and was hoping to find a band to play for fun or participate in weekly jams, buskings, etc and meet new people... are there anything like this in peninsula or south bay? Thanks!
