Need reassurance I’m making the right decision
I’m almost 6 weeks pp and pumping is going well. I’ve thankfully had enough supply to be able to start building a freezer stash. Nursing however is not going well at all. My LO has struggled with latching from the beginning and we’ve had to use a nipple shield to be successful. Long story short, I hate using the nipple shield and latching still hurts either way.
When I do nurse, I end up pumping anyways due to baby not removing enough milk. It’s been super taxing to my mental health and beyond time consuming to try to do this.
I met with an LC today and was able to latch without the shield but it was incredibly painful and hurt for hours after. The LC suggested triple feeding and I almost cried on the spot.
I think I’m ready to be done nursing and only pump. I’m worried I’d be missing out on some kind of magical bonding that I hear about with nursing. Deep down I know fed is best but I’m struggling with this decision and feel guilty that I don’t want to keep trying to nurse.
