idk what to do :(

24f here. i decided to lose my virginity today because it was something i wanted to experience. it was also kind of out of nowhere, but i felt comfortable with the guy i was with. he respects me a lot, and even though he isn’t a virgin, he was very patient with me and kept making sure i was actually ready before we did anything. for context, i have literally never put a tampon in, never used anything for penetration, and i’ve never even put my own fingers inside myself. so i have basically zero experience with any of this. he tried using his fingers first. it didn’t hurt, but it was definitely uncomfortable because i’m not used to having anything there. then we tried having sex. he’s about 6.8 inches, almost 7 inches, and he was able to get some of it in, but it felt like a lot of pressure and i was having trouble relaxing. i also noticed that i kept involuntarily closing my legs around him, even though i wanted to try. it felt like my body was automatically tensing up. we tried cowgirl, and it almost felt like it was going to work, but he kept slipping out. then we tried missionary and he was able to get more in, but again it felt like a lot of pressure. it wasn’t really a burning pain, just uncomfortable pressure, so i told him to stop and he immediately respected that. i’m just confused about what i’m supposed to do from here. is this normal for a first time? my mom never really taught me anything about sex because she’s religious, so i honestly feel kind of dumb asking this. i’m just looking for advice from people who have experienced something similar and can tell me what helped them become comfortable with penetration.
