Relationship with zero issues ended because she couldn’t shake a feeling in her gut.
She’s 33 and I’m 35. Both divorced, both lived our lives and experienced all the things, both looking for the exact same things in our partner. And we found them. This relationship was far and away the most connected and breathtakingly easy one I’ve ever had.
We communicated perfectly. Whether it was a hard conversation we worried would scare the other person away or digging into our past stories and traumas, every single conversation was met with love and understanding.
We never fought. Disagreed, sure, but see above. Our friend groups adored us and started blending together.
Just fill in the blanks on two people who genuinely seem made for each other and have been searching for each other their whole lives.
But then she dropped a nuke on me. Out of nowhere(I’m leaving out a lot of backstory on purpose), she told me that she’s been holding onto this gut feeling about us that she just cannot shake, and she needs to listen to her gut and walk away.
I’ve been trying so incredibly hard to understand what happened. But here’s the thing, so is she. She’s repeatedly told me I’ve done nothing wrong, that she can’t even point to a single thing that I’ve done that would have caused this, and that I have all the qualities she’s always wanted in a partner.
We still have to sit down and have an in person conversation about this soon, but I ask you…
Has anyone experienced something like this before? I’ve read about people falling out of love, feeling like this person is amazing but just not THE person, or having a gut feeling about someone not being right for them based on bad actions or events… but literally nothing bad has happened between us and I’m struggling really hard with this. She has even told me that when we sit down I may not get the clarity I’m begging for, because she doesn’t exactly understand what happened either.
Thoughts? Experiences?
