Hair stylist recommendation
Yeah yeah yeah, I know this gets asked every now and then, but I have some specific issues that I would like to see if I can address.
I have long, fine, thinning hair as a 54-year-old menopausal woman. I have a stylist and colorist I’ve been with for years for fun rainbow stripes, but the visits have been odd got a long time because she can’t remember what color she used on me, and often just buys whatever color is cheaper so she may not even have what she used on me last time. Price is all over and different every time I go for the same service
In addition, I like a layered look with a lot of layers that gives a body and movement. Regardless of what I ask her or how many times I tell her, she will essentially cut in one layer and then give me a little framing in the front but no layers. She will then use a fine tooth comb to flatten my hair out as much as possible, and when I used to let her dry blow dry, which I stopped doing years ago, she would dry out absolutely straight and then be like there you go.
And, being of that age where medications and other things may be affecting my hair growth and quality, both good and bad, I haven’t been able to engage her in any conversations where she can even advise me on if things are looking better or worse, or advise me on any helpful steps or treatments to do.
I know, I know, why did I keep going to her for so long if I’m unhappy, but she is really cool and a lot of fun and was having a lot of success and I liked seeing that for her. But now it’s time to focus on me.
So I’m looking for someone who is professional in skills but not stuffy or conservative, who can help me make the most of my hair in a consistent fashion.
Thanks for reading!
