What's your gift of choice when giving custom office supplies to your employees?
I work in custom apparel, and my company runs surveys pretty regularly on what employees actually enjoy getting. Office supplies are one of the most common things companies hand out, which makes sense since they fit so neatly into everyday office life.
They're also one of the things people are least excited to get. In our last holiday gift survey, 38% of employees put office supplies among their least favorite gifts. In my experience it comes down to quality. A pen or notebook sits on a desk for months, so a cheap one gets plenty of chances to smudge or fall apart in someone's hand.
Putting someone's name on it is an easy detail that often makes a notebook feel more like a gift than a piece of stationery. That same survey had 82% of people saying a gift means more with their name or initials on it. A name brand like Moleskine helps too, it feels like more thought went into it.
Is anyone here still doing office supplies for employee gifts and if so, what’s actually gotten used?
