Welcome to /r/Recordings!
Welcome to r/Recordings!
This subreddit consists of a community that finds beauty in sound; a place where you can audibly be yourself. Whether you want to speak your mind, cover a song, or recite a poem- this is the place to let your voice be heard! All information regarding r/Recordings will be in the sidebar.
Contests/Activities
There are many things you can do with the community! We're very big into getting to know our members and keeping them involved. We have had several contests over the course of the year, the first one being our /r/Recordings Contest! There was also the Thanksgiving Contest, and our latest one being our /r/Recordings Secret Santa! The mods and I appreciate the community very much and are always trying to think of ways to give back. The mods aren't the only ones who try to keep the members involved. The community is always answering and tagging each other in questionnaires. It's a nice way to get each other involved and to also get to know each other a bit more. Another way we all enjoy getting to know each other is with the live stream/chatroom!
/r/Recordings Live Streams
The live streams are a place for the community to get together every Saturday night at 11pm Eastern Time. Whether it is bantering, having discussions, or playing games with each other- everyone is welcome to join! There is a chat window, so you don't have to use mic. Text works just as well. Despite Saturday nights being the heaviest night that the majority of the community is on, don't worry if you have plans, because several of us are usually on throughout the week also- so feel free to hop on any time!
The r/Recordings chatroom uses the Raidcall client. Raidcall is a free, low-latency voice solution and designed for group communication. Without a RaidCall account and RaidCall client, you will not be able to join the live streams. Luckily, in the links below you will find all the information you'll need to download it and be able to participate.
Raidcall Download: http://www.raidcall.com/v7/download-raidcall.html
Raidcall for Mac (unofficial version): http://taracque.hu/raidcall/
Room Name: r/Recordings
Direct Link: http://www.raidcall.com/go.php?sid=6655966
The ID number: 6655966
Once you've downloaded the Raidcall client and sign in you will be shown four rooms.
The Lounge: Is a place where everyone can speak freely.
The Game Room: Is all about games. Whether it's a board game, card game, or video game- this is where you'll be if you and a group of friends would like to start up a game. Everyone is welcome to be included, but if you are joining mid game please remember to be polite. You're more than welcome to join still- but would most likely have to wait for the next round.
The Movie Room: Is all about movies. If you're in the mood for a good old fashion movie night- this is the place to be. This room is all about watching films with the r/Recordings community. With outingmyself being your host, he will always make a post in regards to what movie will be watched and the date and time it will be aired. Here is an example.
and lastly,
The Away Room: Whether you need to take care of a few errands or just want a minute to yourself, this room will accommodate your needs with it's quiet surroundings. Mic is disabled in this room.
All in all we try to keep things relaxed and friendly here, but we do have a few simple rules that we ask you to follow which are also placed in the sidebar for you.
-
Treat others how you would like to be treated.
-
No distributing other people's personal information without their consent.
-
Offensive or derogatory comments will not be tolerated.
-
Don't get into personal arguments in public. These situations should be taken to private communication.
-
And if being harassed in private-messages or in the chatroom in any way, please inform the mods. (Maridoll, MistSir, lurking_quietly, outingmyself, AletheaRae, HannahSlamma, and Newtronium.)
If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
