Director just called and said we need to get rid of all VM's and transfer them to physical machines.

Rants and Raves

Had an issue with an esxi 5.1 box yesterday, and with it we lost quite a few services for about an hour. Everything is back online and functioning, mostly thanks to Veeam and good backups. But now because "Virtual machines are obviously unreliable and the technology just isn't ready", we are going to order a bunch of servers, blow through our budget and redo pretty much the entire infrastructure. And I haven't even had my coffee yet. How's your morning going?

Edit: Ok guys, this post has gotten a little more visibility than I thought. I was initially venting. Then I began to enjoy everyone agreeing that my boss is a jackass. But now I'm a little paranoid so I'm gonna have to take 'er down. Thank you for all the wonderful advice, and awesome jokes. I hope to work with like 99% of the people in this thread at some point. Except for that one guy that said I should go over my boss' head, and tell the VP team I can save them money. That is a bad idea.
