Going to work in Spain/Canary Islands, hit me up with info!

So, I'm going to (hopefully) go to spain to work as a part of my education. I aim to go to Playa de Ingles but every bit of information about culture, do's and dont's and general good to know stuff is warmly welcome.

I know a bit of Spanish, studying it for 3 courses, and I'm not complete stranger to mediterranean due to my half-Croatian background.

Edit. Also, why I ask do's and dont's here instead of googling is, that those are almost always for really dumb tourists, written by tourists, but I would like more perspective of a person that lives there.
